Great Things to Do in Glendale

The 2013 USPHS Scientific and Training Symposium will be held at the Renaissance Hotel in Glendale, Arizona from May 21 to 23, 2013.  The Symposium features some of the lowest registration rates in the country and presents a range of continuing education, training and networking opportunities that are  ideal for:

• Uniformed Public Health Officers
• Federal, Tribal, State and Local Civilian Public Health Employees
• Students and Educators in the Field of Public Health
• Other individuals Interested in the advancement of the Nation's Public Health 

The theme for the 2013 Symposium is “Public Health Prevention and Care: Bridging the Gaps.”  The focus of the Symposium is on the use of the National Prevention Strategy to work with communities and stakeholders at the local, state, Tribal, national and international level to address health disparities among border, cross cultural and at-risk populations.

Highlights will include:

• A celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. C. Everett Koop including a panel discussion featuring former US Surgeons General
  
• Category Day: Featuring a full-day of professions specific training and education for dentists, dietitians, engineers, environmental health officers, health service officers, nurses, pharmacists, physicians, scientists, therapists and veternarians.
• Four plenaries including talks by the Deputy Surgeon General, Dr. Alan Hinman, and Dr. Richard Carmona.
• More than 45 track sessions covering a range of topics.
